Overview

Poly-America, L.P., leading plastics manufacturer, is currently hiring a Wastewater Pre-Treatment Coordinator to join our team.  Poly-America produces several lines of polyethylene products including high quality trash bags, construction films, and geomembrane liners.  Poly-America is also the most technologically advanced and largest recycler and compounder of polyethylene in the world.

 

Dedicated to providing the highest quality polyethylene products, our team of chemical, mechanical, electrical and process engineers is at the forefront of modern plastics technology.  The company’s innovative design team is responsible for several technological breakthroughs in blown-film extrusion and bag making.  We also maintain one of the most sophisticated on-site labs in the plastics industry.

Responsibilities

  • Coach wastewater treatment technicians on proper work methods and practices.
  • Ensures treatment plant water is within established parameters through proper manage of the plant, including use of chemicals, and supervises wastewater discharge releases to the municipal sewer system.
  • Ensure sampling is conducted within permit terms and discharge monitoring reports are appropriately reviewed and submitted.
  • Monitors recordkeeping activities.
  • Assists with treatment plant operations during non-availability of wastewater technicians
  • Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as safe equipment operation.
  • Ensure industrial solid wastes produced by the treatment plant are properly disposed.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and be the company subject matter expert of industrial wastewater equipment; specifically dissolved air flotation (DAF) processes, screw presses, drum screens, and chemical treatment systems.
  • Work with environmental coordinator in industrial and non-industrial wastewater permitting projects.
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to monitor compliance and identify environmental issues.
  • Performs other safety/environmental duties as appropriate.
  • 24/7 availability.

Qualifications

  • Wastewater Class C license or equivalent experience and training that fulfills Class C requirements.
  • Two years’ experience in the wastewater treatment environment, industrial exposure preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in the environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry, biology, or relevant field is required.
  • Working knowledge of basic software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Email, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in all formats, including verbal, written & presentations
  • Ability to accept coaching and guidance and work in a team environment.
