Overview

Poly-America, L.P., a leading manufacturer of polyethylene products, is currently seeking a Litigation Attorney to join our legal team in Grand Prairie, Texas. As part of a group of privately-held companies, Poly-America produces several lines of polyethylene products, including high quality trash bags, construction films, and agriculture products. Poly-America is also the most technologically advanced and largest recycler and compounder of polyethylene in the world.

Responsibilities

The Litigation Attorney at Poly-America is primarily responsible for all aspects of the company’s civil lawsuits from intake through trial. This role is well-suited for an attorney who has an interest in litigating and trying cases without the bother of billable hours or prospecting for clients. In cases filed in Texas, the Litigation Attorney will represent the company as either the plaintiff or defendant, as necessary. For cases outside of Texas, the Litigation Attorney must coordinate with and oversee outside counsel to ensure proper case management. Though litigation is a primary duty of this role, as part of a small legal team, the Litigation Attorney must also provide legal counsel for different areas of law, such as regulatory, corporate, and other day-to-day legal matters that arise.  

 

The Litigation Attorney must also be able to effectively communicate with employees and leadership within Poly-America’s different business groups. This role is flexible and may take on new and different responsibilities as they become necessary or requested by the company’s leadership.    

  • Handle all aspects of civil ligation, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, hearings, and trials
  • Evaluate and negotiate case settlements
  • Manage any state and federal appeals
  • Provide legal counsel on regulatory, corporate, and other legal issues raised by business leaders

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • An active Texas Bar License
  • At least five years of civil litigation and trial experience
  • The ability to travel occasionally to moderately

 A preferable ideal candidate has experience in some or all of the following:

  • Personal injury prosecution and/or defense
  • Truck wreck prosecution and/or defense
  • Safety and/or environmental regulations and compliance
  • General corporate law
